McCarty Eyes NHL Return Through IHL

Darren McCarty is going to attempt to get back into the NHL through the IHL.

Brendan Savage of The Flint Journal is reporting that McCarty is close to signing with the Flint Generals (Flint Generals team page).

The plan is for him to spend between two and four weeks with the Generals in order to get back into game shape. Then, he hopes to eventually land a job with an NHL club, either after his stint in Flint is over or following a stop in the American Hockey League.

For those who aren’t aware, Flint is in Michigan, and a little over an hour drive away from Detroit, where McCarty played 11 seasons with the Red Wings.

Nice story about Darren McCarty. I was wondering what he’s been doing lately. He is still deeply missed here in Detroit. When he gets himself into shape, maybe he could talk to the Wings? Anything is possible.
