Crosby Drops Them Again

Leave it to Sidney Crosby to unexpectedly add some flavor to what was shaping up to be a normal Saturday afternoon slate of games.

“The Kid” dropped his gloves and starting throwing punches at Panthers forward Brett McLean after the two took a faceoff in the second period of the Cats’ 6-1 win over the Pens. McLean’s gloves managed to come off at one point, but Crosby pulled McLean’s jersey over his head and pulled him to the ice before anything else could occur.

Vote: Brett McLean vs Sidney Crosby Jan 3, 2009

Moments before Crosby’s second NHL fight, Maxime Talbot locked horns with Gregory Campbell, possibly in response to Campbell going head-to-head with Crosby earlier in the game.

Semin will slap him silly when the Pens come to DC. And I do mean slap.

I love the Caps and Semin can pass and shoot with the best of them. But he sure as hell can’t fight!

Is Crosby 2 for 2 against guys that are in their prime at the age of 29 and 31?  McLean is the lair in this one, and a pussy.  I don’t know about you, but I bet McLean and Ference are both embarased more than Sid is, and I’m sure they would love for a second chance.

#3 - cindycrosby on Jan 04, 2009 at 01:54 PM

Do you really believe that Crosby challenged him? Most players would jump at the chance to square off with that punk.  If Cindy had challenged him, he would have been ready to kick the sh*t out of him, not trying to win the faceoff.  Penguins fans can keep heaping their praise on their little princess, but eventually the refs won’t be there and someone’s gonna hurt him…

#4 - flyers32 on Jan 04, 2009 at 02:05 PM

wow. he punches one guy in the nuts and tackles another as soon as he turns his head.  the legend continues to grow.

#5 - Alain from Rimouski on Jan 04, 2009 at 06:33 PM

You say that Crosby is a coward ? Bull**** ! He has proven in the past that he could take care of himself against Andrew Ferrence(see http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/39333). And remember that despite the fact that opponents abuse of him, he was and is able to peform, specially against bullies like Flyers’.

#6 - Faz on Jan 04, 2009 at 09:38 PM

Haha. Sidney Crosby could cure cancer, world hunger and create peace in the Middle East and he’d still get cut-down by the masses.

“He’s a wuss, why doesn’t he ever fight?” He fights. “He’s a wuss, why doesn’t he fight… uhh… differently?”

Bugger off. Captain of a team going down the plughole drops the gloves and throws his $10m hands, I say good on him.

#7 - tristan on Jan 04, 2009 at 09:57 PM

At least he doesn’t make lame hits from behind like ovechkin and then stand behind brashear.

#8 - plum29 on Jan 04, 2009 at 10:25 PM

but i heard that Crosby asked him if he wanted to go, aka drop the gloves and he said yes.

so why is Crosby a coward?

#9 - Ryan from Harrisburg, PA on Jan 04, 2009 at 11:07 PM

I love all the Crosby haters. I’m sure you all will blow this out of proportion use it as just another thing to make you loathe him even more. For that, I pity you.

Yes, I will say this negative thing about what happened is that he didn’t give him an opportunity to square up.

However, I love how you haters seem to forget the countless times he is mugged on the ice (this game no exception) without a penalty called. Couple that with the crappy way the team has been playing and he just blew up. He’s human and I guarantee any one of you would have done the same.

And in regards to him fighting Mike Richards… Richards wouldn’t fight anyone in the NHL unless it was him and another Flyer ganging up on someone. Period.

to #23 - perhaps you should check out how many fights ovenchicken has been in, let alone won, before you start making predictions about how he would fare in ANY fight.  Let me clue you in, your hero has been in 0 fights in his NHL career.  He is wonderful at running people, cheap shotting, and then fleeing away behind the skirts of Brashear - brave, NOT!

I wish Sid would have allowed McLean to square up first, but he did NOTHING but get punched and pushed around when the dance started.  At least Semin was able to get undressed and start his girly slap fight against Staal.

Love how you Crosby haters love to call him names like whiner, crybaby, punk, etc. There is only one problem you all would love to have him on your team. No matter what you say that fact is true. Envy is a green monster. Wait until Goddard gets back and none of the cheapshots boys will take shots at the best players in hockey. Live with it.

#12 - Jerry from Maryland on Jan 05, 2009 at 10:40 AM

If Crosby challenged him, and he said yes then fine.  Lets assume he did.  After the face off, you stand up, drop your stick and gloves, take off your helmet and fight.

Crosby does this, all the props to him.  The problem with this fight is that he jumped the guy.  If you want to be a man and fight, fight like a man, square off and do it right.  How many Pens fans would be screaming bloody murder if someone grabs Crosby at a face off, pulls his jersey over his head, and starts punching.

As far as Ovechkin goes, he has said himself he is not a fighter.  And for all you Pens fans saying he takes cheap shots, take a look back at your fearless leader in ATL and his “CHEAP SHOTS”

Fighting on the internet is like the special olympics! Even if you win your still a Retard!

All the haters would love to have Sid on there team. The way i look at it, a fight is a fight, at least he mans up!

Half of you hair less boys would probably run away if someone threaten you! (lol) GO PENS!

#14 - lot of jealous people on here cause they dont have on Jan 05, 2009 at 06:00 PM

looks like a lot of jealous people on here..cause they dont have anybody to watch on there team..at all(florida..so on)lame asses! sid is the man!

#15 - BlackandGoldStanleyCup on Jan 05, 2009 at 07:37 PM

Are you serious? Crosby is a little bitch! All of you pens fans are full of crap just like Sid. There is no way he asked him to go, he pretends he is going to take the face off then he fakes it and jumps him. He is going to get his faces smashed in next game and totally deserves it. Crosby is a bitch ass and I am an impartial Bruins fan. Stick to scoring goals before someone kills him for pulling that cheap crap!

#16 - gfoz on Jan 05, 2009 at 07:43 PM

Crosby may have gotten a quick start on the fight but he is just a kid. How mature were you at age 21? He is a respectable young man with amazing talents and IS the future of the league.

#10 Cindy jumped on a guy looking down at the puck on a faceoff.I said that I wish he would try that crap with Ovie because he would rag doll that little girl.I know you are not going to try to compare cindy`s strength to Ovie.Ovie takes the big hits and gives them and he plays…see all awards this past year.As for Brash he has one of the lowest fight totals this year,I guess people are to scared…see Riley Cote.It can`t be an allstar game without Ovie starting.Whether you like it or not he is the best.I wouldn`t worry Cindy you can battle it out with your ugly russian girlfriend milkin for #2.

#18 - grymsin69 on Jan 05, 2009 at 09:04 PM

cindy might be the the toughest woman ive ever seen. How else could a female get the upper hand on a man, well ill tell ya, cheap shot. We all know a woman could never beat up a man so we all shouldnt be surprised that this chick would do just that. After all she did juat move bak home with mommy lemieux. The world is too big for a young budding female with infected lips..

#19 - lets go on Jan 05, 2009 at 09:08 PM

#21 - icebreaker2 on Jan 06, 2009 at 12:19 AM

I have just read all the comments regarding this incident (not sure it was really a fight) and a couple thoughts come to mind. Have any of the people making these comments ever been in a hockey fight? I’m not talking beer leagues but actual organized hockey at the College or Junior level. If you have you will realize that Crosby, Ovechkin or even Richards are NOT fighters, they are hockey players that for one reason or another wind up in a fight (except Ovechkin). Given that fact you need to try and figure out why they wound up in a fight. In Crosby’s case he gets A’s for the reason he started the fight and far less for form he used. By the way how did all you guys hear what actual words were exchanged as you make statements as though you were in the Face-Off circle.

#22 - eastcoast79 from Atlanta on Jan 06, 2009 at 02:51 PM

All I have to say is that if McClean agreed to fight before the puck drop, he should have been ready.  Crosby gets cheap shotted all game for being one of the best, so he had to react before McClean jumped him.

#23 - 23rough from d.c. on Jan 06, 2009 at 06:16 PM

oh d.c. sucks, good to say from far away.I still say cindy pulled the bitch move.

#24 - Joe Mack from New York on Jan 06, 2009 at 06:49 PM

Is anybody out there coming to this site without bias anymore?

It’s fine to root for your team, but jumping on the crosby-hating bandwagon is getting old.

#25 - Jeff from Manitoba on Jan 06, 2009 at 11:33 PM

Crosby should stick to what he knows, scoring goals and getting assists.  I dont know how any Pittsburgh fan can be happy bout a guy who jumps another like that.  Total pu$$y.
