Crosby Drops Them Again

Leave it to Sidney Crosby to unexpectedly add some flavor to what was shaping up to be a normal Saturday afternoon slate of games.

“The Kid” dropped his gloves and starting throwing punches at Panthers forward Brett McLean after the two took a faceoff in the second period of the Cats’ 6-1 win over the Pens. McLean’s gloves managed to come off at one point, but Crosby pulled McLean’s jersey over his head and pulled him to the ice before anything else could occur.

Vote: Brett McLean vs Sidney Crosby Jan 3, 2009

Moments before Crosby’s second NHL fight, Maxime Talbot locked horns with Gregory Campbell, possibly in response to Campbell going head-to-head with Crosby earlier in the game.

Leave it to Crosby to jump Maclean when he was unaware. What a coward. I’m sure Maclean will not forget.

The obvious difference between Lemieux, Gretzky and Crosby is that Crosby is a whiny punk. He reminds me more and more of how Eric Lindros was a dirty cry baby, Ovechkin plays a physical player all the time, Crosby locked horns with Campbell but didn’t drop the gloves ‘cause he’s a punk. McLean was just taking a face-off HE HAD NO IDEA what was coming… classless.

What a crap fight. Good on Crosby for dropping his gloves, but it takes two to tango, Maclean was just trying to take a faceoff.

#4 - Sid the squid on Jan 03, 2009 at 07:22 PM

EXACTLY! HE’s a coward, and a whiny punk-a$$ piece of garbage….

#5 - sterling on Jan 03, 2009 at 08:15 PM

No doubt crosby called him out but with his rep Maclean didn’t believe him…. gotta give the kid credit at least he’s giving the fans something to cheer about considering the play of the pens have been nothing short of horrible

If the whiner is going to drop them! he should do the honorable thing and challenge the guy…  Crosby is a puss!  NO MORE NO LESS. Where was he last years playoff, when Richards wanted a piece…  HOLDING ON FOR DEAR LIFE….
At least Gretzky and Lemieux challenged there dance partners, it didn’t help but they challenged the other player.
And as for lindros, he got as good as he gave.
He didn’t always pick his spots, IE Hatcher, Stevens, Buekeboom…......

#7 - Hail Crobsy on Jan 03, 2009 at 08:25 PM

Crosby didnt drop them against Richards because HE WAS TOO BUSY WINNING

#8 - Sean on Jan 03, 2009 at 08:28 PM

No he’s a puss!!  Who cant handle the hitting and the rough stuff..  Its a contact league not old timers..

#9 - paul on Jan 03, 2009 at 08:52 PM

Who cares if he jumped him or not.  Maybe maclean should of maned up and tried to fight back instead of standing there like an idiot.  Crosby was just trying to get his team pumped. good on him.

Read his comments after the game, ya boneheads: “I asked him to go, and he said yes. And usually, yes means yes,” said Crosby, who fought Boston’s Andrew Ference last season. “I mean, I wouldn’t have wasted 20 minutes in the box for that. I guess he didn’t take me serious. I don’t know, it wasn’t worth 20 minutes, though, that’s for sure.”

What’s he supposed to do, give the other guy the first 3 punches for free? As strong as Crosby is on his skates, I don’t think he needs to lose any sleep about McLean.

lolololol Sid says he asked the guy for the fight..Not only is he the bissest fraud in the game but he is the biggest liar…

He doesent deserve a vote for winning this fight.

#12 - Jim from Tampa,FL on Jan 03, 2009 at 11:06 PM

Sid is a little girl.  If he is the future of hockey, the league is in trouble.  First he punches a guy in the nuts from behind now he jumps a guy off the faceoff.

I’ll tke Ovechkin, Richards and Carter any day of the week of this Mr. Ed looking jaggoff.

Weak play by Crosby.

#14 - Adam from Western PA on Jan 04, 2009 at 12:37 AM

Crosby’s fight is on the wrong website. It should be listed on “hockeyhugs.com”.

What a poser.

Typical cry-baby Pens player.

And what makes it even worse is Bob Errey slobbering all over that little fags nob.  There are many announcers I hate in the NHL but none more than those 2 freggin homers.  Well, I maybe wrong there.  I forgot about Jack Edwards.

Is it ok to hope someone jumps Sidney’s ass soon, and knock his ass out.

Im sure the NHL will suspend whoever did that for a nice long time, but at this rate, im sure the person would consider it well worth it.

#17 - ross on Jan 04, 2009 at 01:47 AM

what a pussy crosby is dropping them and starting throwing before mcleans aware.maybe if he would have squared off you could give him props but jumping the guy and suckering him and throwing him into the ice is a classless play from one of the biggest whiners in the league!!

#18 - Robert from Portland on Jan 04, 2009 at 02:15 AM

if Crosby asked him to go that’s one thing but to me Brett was not involved in any conversation with him prior to the puck being dropped and reacted like Sid didn’t say a thing to put him on his guard.

#19 - Micheal c from New York on Jan 04, 2009 at 02:51 AM

Sid is a pussy, If he did challenge Mclean to a fight, at let man up and square up and ditch the face guard. Little puss, biggest cry baby in the league. He needs to stick to scoring and let the real men do the fighting.

#20 - `Claudia from the Netherlands on Jan 04, 2009 at 04:55 AM

Crosby put up a good fight..
During the face-off he said, do you want to get it on? Brett Mclean said ok, So he had to see it coming!

Go Pens!

#23 - 23rough on Jan 04, 2009 at 11:51 AM

cindy is plain and simple a coward.Cindy is cheap and dirty.I know all of you canadiens voted that coward in all star game, but Ovie who can stick up for himself and who is the best player on the planet and should have been there. This is typical Cindy being himself a whinny little girl, cheapshot artist.I wish he would try that with Ovie he would get rag dolled.

#24 - Dave Jenkins from Ottawa, Ontario Canada on Jan 04, 2009 at 12:10 PM

Kudos to Crosby for actually making a stand after all the cheap shots and lack of enforcers on the penguins to peotect his star status.

One negative comment though. It never ceases to amaze me how brave some guys are to fight with visors on. Next time sid, show some honour and get rid of the bucket before ya drop em.

#25 - tom from dc on Jan 04, 2009 at 12:12 PM

Character doesn’t change, it is revealed.  Crosby is showing us all what a dishonest coward he is through actions.
