Boogaard to Miss Games After Godard Fight

Vote!

As was “hinted” at earlier today, Eric Godard took on Derek Boogaard tonight.

It looked like it was going to be all Boogey until Godard slipped in a couple of heavy shots, stunning Boogaard.  Boogaard then straightened out only to get popped by Godard again.  Godard then took him to the ice, not that he needed much help.

Boogaard went to the penalty box, but didn’t spend much time there as he left and went to the lockerroom shortly after.  The inside word is Boogaard has suffered a concussion and will miss some time now.  Hopefully he recovers quickly.

The videos page will be updated a little later, but if you’re a forums member the downloadable clips are already up there.

Update Jan 10 140am: The videos page has been updated with all the fights of the night.  The Boogaard-Godard fight was made a Youtube preview as was Shawn Thornton-Darcy Hordichuk.

Another good web site sold out to the advertisers.  The pop-ups were bad enough but now we have to put up with redirects…......and lots of them.

The website costs a lot of money, and to keep it free its ad supported.  With the new design there are less ads than before.

Also, I ditched the pops on all but one page to test interstitials (one per day max) - I even wrote about it as a heads-up to everyone.  The goal is to get rid of them both, and I’m working on something where I hope I can, but it’s not possible to ditch them right now.  I’ll have another update about it soon.

What a douchebag.  It’s free, quit bitching.  It’s two ads at the most.  You have to hit “skip” once a day, big deal.

So much for Boogy being the champ!  I hope Godard stays up for good, but I doubt it for some reason.

Good scraps in the other games too.

GREAT WEBSITE!!! Don’t worry about 1 idiot that wants to complain because he has to click skip add once!!! I found this site 2 years ago and I check it EVERY DAY now!! Thank you for all you do!!

Thanks for the support guys, but I don’t mind addressing concerns (although I wish some were phrased better sometimes).  Still, advertising is tough, and you’ll never make everybody happy.  My goal (besides adding content and features to the site) is finding better advertisers and sponsors so I can stop running a couple of formats here, and to also have more appealing and interesting ads in general.  I hope I can make an announcement regarding all this soon.

I have also followed this site for a couple of years now. I used to go to baystreetbullies.com being a leafs fan, however they pretty much only show leaf fights and since Domi stepped out there hasnt been a whole lot happening, unlike here where you see all the fights, all the time. This site rocks. Ads, what ads? That simple one click to make it through to what you really want to see, sorry but its hardly even noticed here. Like I said great site and great job by you for keeping on top of everything. Heres an idea if you are still not satisfied try ESPN. HA HA!!!

I dont know if this is where I can talk about the goddard fight but whatever im putting it here. That is the fight of this century!! It has as big of impact as Gretzky getting 50 in 39 to me. I know fights and this fight is worth talking about I never leave a message anywhere and I had to say something. Thanks for having the sight to see a great moment like that!! Makes me want to be back in the lineup instaed of at school!!

Great Site….  Not quite sure about the skirt who’s bitching about the adverts…...  Gotta pay the bills, right?  Anyway, keep up the tremendous work here on hockeyfights.com.  This site is a gem.
Boogaard vs. Godard…..  I picked Boogy to win this one, but was obviously completely wrong.  Boogaard has really been making a name for himself….. especially this season.  And after Colton Orr beat the living snot out of Godard last year, I figured this one to be a no-brainer.  It was a great surprise.  The best fights are when the underdog shines….....

I have been a regular visitor to this sight for over a year now, and I have to say that it is great! I love everything about this sight, especially the videos and the interesting commentary in the Forum section.

As an Islander fan, I grew up watching some great heavyweights (Gillies, Brian Curran, Vukota, Baumgartner, Cairns), and Eric Godard was one of the best we’ve ever had.  I am not surprised that he did well against the huge Boogard, but I wouldn’t have guessed that he would win, let alone by TKO.  I guess it just goes to prove that on any given night…

After what happened last year with Colton Orr (who is an excellent fighter, but has not done nearly as well against others as he did against Godard), I though Godard might not be back in the NHL.  Although it may be brief, welcome back, Eric!

Keep up the good work, Hockeyfights.com!

Boogaard was just a little rusty, (last fight was November 14th), that’s all. He will be kicking ass again shortly.

-This site is awesome, by the way

this is an idea for David M Singer

One thing I would like to see on this site is estimated player fighting records based on member voting, starting from the 05-06 season for example Georges Laraque is 14-1-1 based on Member voting in the last two years including playoffs. I think this would be cool stat to have along side the FM leader board.
