Stop Censorship, Stop SOPA

Some of you may have seen me post things about this on social media sites under my personal accounts, but I do need to post something here, especially after receiving a few encouraging emails.

What is SOPA? It's a proposed American law that could affect the entire Internet and we need to prevent it from being passed.

Easiest ways to explain:

I'd like to call on all of you, including our Canadian and global friends, to write in and lend your voice.  The last thing you would want is this bill to be passed and your government to follow in America's footsteps.

I'd also like to call on Tim Pawlenty.  The former Governor of Minnesota has been understandably less outspoken since withdrawing from the 2012 Presidential election. Gov. T-Paw has mentioned this website numerous times as one of his favorites, both in his book and in interviews.  I don't tie this site to any political views, but I never had a reason to mind, despite thinking it was one of the things he used to try and make an image of himself as an average guy, maybe a little blue collar. To use a cliché: a man of the people.

Governor. if this site, or any other like it is truly on your bookmarks list, I'd like to hear from you about this issue.

For a visitor of this site: it's not about this site's content, but maybe a comment, maybe something posted in the forums.  Maybe even a link to another site that's redirected later on to something else and no one is even aware of it.

Gizmodo has posted a list of companies supporting SOPA.  Major League Baseball and the National Football League are both on the list.  The National Hockey League is not.  Good for them.

Go Daddy was on the list and has recently withdrawn their support. Kinda. Read their statement carefully and it seems unsure.  I have almost 200 domains with Go Daddy.  I am currently looking at alternatives and weighing my options.

Delayed already, the bill will be voted on by Congress in January 2012.
