North Dakota, Toughening College Hockey
Just a couple of weeks after the Fighting Sioux were dropping the gloves with the Golden Gophers, things got hostile again, this time against the Denver Pioneers.
From the 16th, things started in the second when J.P. Testwuide and Kyle Radke dropped the gloves, but picked up roughing minors.
Slashing minors and 10-minute misconducts were also given to each player, but both stayed in their respected penalty box throughout the period.
At the end of the second, things got friendly again.
Radke and Brandon Vossberg were given fighting penalties and were tossed (automatic in NCAA hockey). Also tacked on to fighting penalties are 1-game suspensions.
That wasn’t the end of it though. One-game suspensions were handed out to Testwuide and Radke for their earlier scuffle, despite fighting penalties not being called. Denver coach George Gwozdecky took no issue with the additional suspensions.
