More Love Between North Dakota and Minnesota
Some college action from this past weekend.
About half-way through the game, North Dakota’s Brad Malone started the fire that reached an apex at the end of overtime when the Fighting Sioux’s Darcy Zajac crosschecked Golden Gopher R.J. Anderson in the back. It led to a scrum and Zajac wound up dropping the gloves with Tony Lucia.
The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Just when you thought it was over, and the teams lined up for the customary post-game handshake, Sioux Joe Finley pulled Blake Wheeler out of the line. Outside of a lot of tugging and shouting between the teams, nothing else came of it. Wheeler, the target of the Sioux on a couple of occasions during the game, was drafted by the Coyotes 5th overall in 2004. Finley was chosen by the Capitals, the 27th overall pick in 2005.
