I present the 2009-10 hockeyfights.com Awards.

As always, the awards are a collaborative effort by the hockeyfights.com content team. Jon Porus, Merlin401 in the forums, did a great job, again, compiling these. Tons of thanks to all of them.

New season... Same problem...The Redwings need to get an enforcer. Ken Holland needs to invest some of the little cap space remaining into a tough guy. It gets almost embarrassing @ times during the long NHL season watching our talented players get sticks broken across their arms and face washed repeatedly without incident. The lucky tough guy who finally arrives here and does his job, will be iconic in this town. A good example of available talent is D.J King. He is just sitting out there with a RFA qualifying offer from St.louis after a season when he broke Boogaards nose and didnt hardly lose a fight? Yes he's had a few injuries, but its time to take the chance on someone to protect our other investments. As a wings season ticket holder i would like to see an occasional fight like the old days. For example, when toronto comes to town,Colton Orr is in street clothes because there is no reason for him to even dress. Thanks for taking the time to read my rant.

They now have none, Westgarth will never play a full time role with the big club. Brian McGrattan would make a great fit with the club. But the top brasswith the L.A.Kings wont go after anyone. Maybe I should be a ducks fan.
Posted by Rob on 2010-07-21 17:05:28 Lets not forget about Brian McGrattan. We need to find him yet another home and how about Jesse Boulerice for a 3rd strike and he's out deal. Yeah Jody Shelleys game will really step up this year being on a caliber team like the Flyers. Remember here's a man who battled the Legend in 3 marathon bouts for the gamer and then the next night they fought one more time. It will be incredible to see him drop bombs 6 times over with Derek Boogaard and arugably the best fighter in hockey Eric Godard. Oh and even though he barely plays I can see Andrew Peters playing every Flyers-Devils game this year to. This is gonna be an incredible year for the bangers this year.

Jody Shelley, Dan Carcillo, Lapi and for the time being Riley Cote on the same team. Nobody in the NHL will come close to running the now modern day Broad Street Bullies and during the course of this year that is what they will be. Now to the unsigned. Let's hope Todd Fedoruk, Donald Brashear, Aaron Downey, Andre Roy and Georges Laraque get back in the big time. They are the big time and should be running all the up and comers and teaching them what being a true enforcer is all about.
