Goertzen lays a big hit on Dion Phaneuf in the corner. Ritchie skates over to Goertzen and they drop the gloves. Ritchie starts out with a few rights and Goertzen tosses Ritche to the ice, also losing his own balance in the process. They get up, but Ritchie's quicker and feeds Goertzen some rights while he's getting up. Goertzen loses his balance again, goes to a knee and gets back up. They exchange some rights, Ritchie's look to be landing better. Goertzen just can't straighten out and use his size to his advantage. As Goertzen moves forward he goes to the ice again, and this time Ritchie lands on him and the linesmen come in.

They drop the gloves at the blueline and square off. They tie up and Ruutu gets in two quick lefts. Ruutu switches hands and lands a right as Ritchie responds with a right of his own. Ruutu switches back and lands a left before ripping Ritchie's helmet off. They wrestle around a bit until Ruutu gets loose and is able to get Ritchie's jersey over his head as he lands 5-6 rights before the linesmen come in.

The two come together behind the play and drop the gloves at the blueline. They immediately start exchanging right hands, Bieska getting the better of the early exchange. Bieska throws another right as Ritchie misses with a wide one of his own, allowing Bieska to counter with another right. They go toe-to-toe for a short moment: Bieska with rights; Ritchie with lefts. Bieska throws another right before they grapple, both struggling to get a hand free. Bieska throws an elbow as Ritchie comes back with a right. Bieska throws another elbow before both miss with punches. Bieska then slams Ritchie to the ice as Ritchie's jersey comes up over his head.

Ritchie throws a right of his own before Ott twists him around, knocking Ritchie off-balance. Ott then throws a flurry of seven rights as Ritchie falls to the ice and the linesmen rush in.
