The two drop the gloves way behind the play, each removing their helmets while they square off. Gauthier fakes and then connects with a right as he grabs ahold of Veilleux. Gauthier then throws four overhand rights to the back of Veilleux's head while Veilleux is trying to duck away from the punches. They wrestle up against the boards as Gauthier throws a left that almost knocks Veilleux off-balance before landing two body shots. The linesmen come in shortly after.

Veilleux gives Kesler a shove in the face before wrapping him up along the boards. Kesler knocks Veilleux's helmet off as Veilleux throws six overhand rights before Kesler even has his gloves off. Veilleux lands two more before Kesler gets his mitts off and unleashes a flurry of 12 straight punches to the back and side of Veilleux's head. Kesler lands another short right as Veilleux connects with a right to the back of Kesler's head. The two then hold on until the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Veilleux received a roughing.

A scrum develops in front of the Minnesota net in retaliation for Patrick Sharp and Kyle Calder trying to jam home a rebound. Off to the side, Veilleux drops his gloves and starts throwing rights at an unaware Vrbata. Veilleux tries to turn Vrbata around and get some more shots in but the linesmen are quick to get there and seperate the two. Other Penalties: Veilleux received an instigator, misconduct and game misconduct; Vrbata, Michal Barinka and Alex Henry each received a roughing. Radim Vrbata did not receive a fighting major.
