Reich takes a run at Clymer near the side boards, prompting Clymer to challenge Reich. The two drop the gloves and grab ahold of each other near the blueline. They wrestle around for a short while until Reich gets free and throws two rights. Clymer is able to lock Reich out again, but Reich quickly gets loose and throws a flurry of three more rights while Clymer struggles to do anything. Clymer is finally able to land a short body shot in response, but Reich is able to tie him up. They then grapple once again to try and get position, but the linesmen move in and break things up before anything else can happen.

Clymer bumps Cam Ward behind the net while Ward is trying to play the puck up ice. Gleason takes exception and grabs Clymer. Gleason shoves him up against the boards and they go ahead and drop their gloves. Gleason throws an uppercut and a right before Clymer is even set. Gleason pushes Clymer up against the glass again. Gleason then throws a right cross that misses because Clymer is already falling to his knees. Clymer gets back up to his feet and the two wrestle around until the linesmen are ready to intervene.
