In a blowout game, Boulton catched Lindros with a big hit and Domi skates in and throws a gloved punch at Boulton to protect his concussion-prone linemate. Exelby grabs Domi from behind allowing Boulton to unloads five heavy rights on Domi who can't defend himself. At this point, all the players pile in and the linesmen break this up. Lindros ends up on top of Exelby, but when they get up, they break away from the main scrum. Exelby wants to swing, but Lindros holds on and doesn't look interested. Exelby may have connected with some soft punches, but held up since Lindros was trying to talk him out of it. Meanwhile, Boulton gets ejected for pushing a linesman who is trying to separate him from the crowd. Wade Belak manages to get a few shots in at Boulton when he's down, after which Belak challenges the Thrashers bench. Other Penalties: Domi received an instigator and misconduct; Boulton an elbowing and game misconduct; Ron Petrovicky a double roughing; Wade Belak a roughing and misconduct.

The puck is up in the air and Boulerice is ready to play it when it hits the ice. He's nailed by Scott Mellanby and Boulerice goes right after Mellanby when he gets up, throwing a gloved right and a couple of more punches before Mellanby turtles and the linesmen start to come after Boulerice. Boulton skates over, drops his gloves, and challenges Boulerice and Jesse gladly obliges. They tie up and Boulton throws three rights to the back of Boulerice's head and Boulerice returns fire with an uppercut. Boulerice loses his grip and tries to grab on to Boulton's jersey. Boulton starts throwing rights as Boulerice grabs on. Boulton throws another right as Boulerice gets his left hand in Boulton's face and throws a short right. Boulton throws a huge uppercut that misses and causes him to lose his balance and go down to a knee. Boulton gets back up and throws three more rights as Boulerice comes back with a couple of rights and an uppercut as he shakes off his elbow pad. Boulton switches hands and throws a left before he throws Boulerice down to the ice and the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Boulerice received an unsportsmanlike conduct; Scott Mellanby a charging.

The two drop the gloves near the benches and square off. Boulton grabs on and misses with a short left as Belak returns fire with about 6-7 rights of his own, most of them hitting the back of Boulton's helmet as he is ducking away. Boulton throws a right of his own during the flurry. They tie up and struggle to get loose and keep their balance. Boulton throws a right as Belak comes back with 4-5 of his own. Boulton shakes off his elbow pad and throws a couple of short rights. They spin around as Belak throws a couple of rights. Boulton comes back with a locked out right of his own. They tie up again as Boulton gets his arm loose and lands about 9-10 rights to the back of Belak's head, a mix of long and short punches that knock Belak's helmet off in the process. Boulton throws a couple of more short rights over the top as Belak throws a right that causes both players to lose their balance and fall half way to the ice for a moment. They get up and Boulton throws two rights to the back of Belak's head before the linesmen intervene.

Right off the faceoff, the two drop the gloves and square off, each signaling the other to come closer. They size each other up and try multiple times to grab on as Peters signals for the linesmen to stay away. They finally grab ahold of each other as Boulton throws two rights to the back of Peters' helmet. Peter throws an overhand right and a short jersey-jab as Boulton lands a body shot. Peters then throws two rights as Boulton tries to shake off his elbow pad. They spin around as Peter throws a right that knocks both players off-balance and to the ice. Boulton gets in a right while they are down.

The puck is dumped into the Islanders' zone and Denis Grebeshkov goes back for it, gets low, and Boulton gives him a push. Grebeshkov goes sliding into the boards and Godard goes right after Boulton. Boulton's ready for him, drops the gloves immediately, and the two tie up. Boulton gets in two rights while Godard is attempting to get his right arm free. They're tugging at each other, Godard still trying to get loose, and Boulton gets in a couple of uppercut-like rights. Godard then responds with a few rights of his own. Godard comes up short with a straight right and Boulton follows-up with two good, long, right uppercuts. Godard throws an overhand right and Boulton responds with another uppercut. The two exchange a few more right hands: Godard sticking up top, possibly landing, and Boulton effectively mixing it up, going under and over with his punches. The two are then tired out and wait for the linesmen to come in. Other Penalties: Godard received an instigator and misconduct.
