Brookbank throws a right, Thornton throws a uppercut that misses, then a right which lands. Brookbank comes back with two rights, one lands flush knocking Thornton off-balance. Brookbank follows that up with another right that lands as Thornton is falling down.

They start off in-close with Thornton throwing about three or four lefts. Laraque counters with a couple of lefts of his own. Laraque throws two more, and loses his footing. Thornton throws a right, and takes Laraque to the ice.

Right after a Calgary goal these two are lined up against each other for the faceoff. The puck drops and the gloves fly. The grab on and Oliwa throws a few rights to the back of Thornton's shoulder. Thornton throws a body shot then tries to go up top, nothing doing, they're in tight. Some air comes between them and Thornton throws two hard shots, first up top, then to the body. Oliwa counters with some punches of his own. They now go back and forth in a good exchange, with Thornton looking like he landed some of the better shots, one being a nice uppercut, although the angle makes it hard to tell how well it connected, if at all. As they get closer together, Thornton pushes Oliwa to the ice and the linesmen come in.
