| Comments: Johnson hits a guy up high, sticks his arms up in the air like trying to say "oops". In comes Parker and Smith. Smith drops his gloves and eats a huge punch to the face as a scrum evolves and the linesmen are breaking it all up. Other Penalties: Scott Parker received a roughing; Johnson an elbowing. | ||||

| Oct 12, 2003 | 2pd 13:04 | @ MIN | SAN | Scott Parker |
| Comments: Long squareoff. Lots of sparring and pawing. Parker grabs hold and manuvers Matt around a bit. Johnson throws two inside lefts, but only manages to slightly connect with a short forearm/elbow. Parker spins him around and Johnson looks to be reaching for Parker's helmet. Parker throws a heavy right which misses, followed by another that lands, popping Johnson's helmet off. Parker throws one more that misses. Johnson finishes off with two long rights, neither finding their mark. They go down with Matt Johnson on top. | ||||

| Oct 19, 2003 | 3pd 12:35 | MIN | @ DAL | John Erskine |
| Comments: Right out of the box they meet up and drop the gloves, looked like Erskine was stretching as they were circling. They come together and grab on. They hold each other off with their right hands and throw over each other with nothing but bombs. Johnson gets the first couple, one real good one, and Erskine responds with a couple overhand rights that Johnson ducks under. Johnson then grabs Erskine's leg and tries to hit him while Erskine is off-balance, but Erskine dosn't fall and nails Johnson's forehead with a couple of overhand rights. They fall and Johnson throws some lefts at the end. | ||||

| Oct 28, 2003 | 1pd 05:09 | MIN | @ BUF | Andrew Peters |
| Comments: After some talking, these guys decide to drop them right by the penalty box. Lengthy squareoff and they finally grab on to each other. Johnson throws a right, either missing or hitting the back of the helmet. Peters throws his own right to the helmet. Johnson tries to follow up with his own right, but it looks like Peters might have landed a decent right. A few rights to the side of the head and helmet by Peters, and Johnson loses his balance, but gets back up. Peters throws about four or five more to the back of the head. He throws an uppercut that might have landed and another to the back of the head. Johnson loses his helmet and Peters gets a right to the side of the head. Johnson rips off the helmet, finally trying to get something going, but Peters slams him into the boards and takes him down. Peters later has an ice bag on his hand. | ||||

| Oct 30, 2003 | 1pd 11:37 | @ MIN | ATL | Francis Lessard |
| Comments: Matt and Francis jawwed each other after the Wild's first PP goal in the first, but the linesmen stepped in then. Following the second Wild PP goal both decide to have a go. Both were agressively punching, Johnson with the rights, Lessard with the lefts. Nothing damaging lands on either side before Lessard throws one that misses and goes down from momentum. | ||||

| Nov 07, 2003 | 1pd 02:28 | MIN | @ CAL | Krzysztof Oliwa |
| Comments: Johnson comes off the bench and waits for Oliwa by the center ice wall. They squareoff, Oliwa opens with a weak jab as he goes to grab on, which connects. Johnson spins Oliwa around trying to get position. Oliwa goes down, then both regain composure and start throwing. Each throws a few rights, nothing damagins. They get into the hug, and Oliwa winds up with a takedown. | ||||

| Nov 08, 2003 | 2pd 14:37 | MIN | @ VAN | Bryan Allen |

| Dec 05, 2003 | 1pd 02:00 | MIN | @ CAL | Krzysztof Oliwa |
| Comments: Minnesota scores, and after the ensuing faceoff, they drop the gloves and have a short little squareoff. Johnson throws two rights, one of which may have landed. Oliwa throws a right that came up short and Johnson slips to the ice. | ||||

| Dec 09, 2003 | 1pd 12:12 | @ MIN | CAL | Krzysztof Oliwa |
| Comments: They squareoff, grab with the lefts, and start throwing rights. Nothing much landing at first, Oliwa lands a glancing jersey-punch and then Johnson lands a big punch that hits helmet and forehead at the same time and seemed to somewhat daze Oliwa, who then tucked his head, held on and then they went down in the grapple. | ||||

| Dec 13, 2003 | 2pd 02:59 | @ MIN | BUF | Andrew Peters |
| Comments: They squareoff at center ice and shadow box for a few moments. They grab a hold of each other with the lefts. Johnson throws a couple of jersey-jab lefts, and then throws a bomb of a right hand that cracks Peters on the side of the head. Helmet or not, Peters goes to his knees. Peters is trying to get up, throwing a wild right or two as Johnson does the same. Peters regains his balance and Johnson throws another right hand bomb that lands square and puts Peters to the ice. KO Johnson. Peters takes a few seconds on the ice and then gets to the penalty box. | ||||

| Dec 17, 2003 | 2pd 02:59 | MIN | @ COL | Peter Worrell |
| Comments: Starts with them grabbing on, both throw some short rights, then they both throw one heavy shot and both seemed to connect, then they grapple some more, occassionally throwing rights, some connecting, but nothing damaging. After the linesmen jump in, Worrell throws a right with his elbow pad over his hand, then recovers and pats Johnson on the shoulder, like he was apologizing for the late shot. | ||||

| Dec 18, 2003 | 1pd 09:27 | MIN | @ EDM | Georges Laraque |
| Comments: Long sqaureoff as Moose appeared to want to stay open and not grab a hold of Laraque. They finally get together with Laraque getting a few punches off before Johnson loses his balance. | ||||

| Dec 30, 2003 | 1pd 14:42 | MIN | @ EDM | Georges Laraque |
| Comments: Laraque issues the challenge off the faceoff and off come the gloves. Laraque rips Johnson's helmet off and both guys are loading up the bombs. Standing at arm's length, with Laraque's left and Johnson's right both free, Johnson tries a couple of haymakers which miss. Johnson begins to lose his balance when Laraque throws three lefts to the back of Johnson's head and down to the ice goes Johnson. These two fight all the time, with little result. | ||||

| Jan 19, 2004 | 1pd 10:27 | MIN | @ NAS | Jim McKenzie |
| Comments: They're in tight. Johnson throws a couple of rights that don't connect. He lands one to McKenzie's shoulder and Jim comes back with three quick rights that don't find their mark, Johnson seems surprised by this and falls. | ||||

| Jan 29, 2004 | 1pd 13:28 | @ MIN | MON | Darren Langdon |
| Comments: Langdon taps Johnson and Johnson obliges. Johnson starts out with tons of punches, and throwing big bombs that are hitting the side of the head, though none too damaging as Langdon's hanging in there. Langdon returns with some soft punches, if not missing. Near the end, as always, Langdon starts to come back with some good shots and as the refs come in he throws two uppercuts. | ||||

| Jan 31, 2004 | 1pd 08:43 | MIN | @ CBJ | Jody Shelley |
| Comments: Johnson and Shelley decide to go off a faceoff in the Jackets' zone. They sqaure off and Shelley starts it with a left to Johnson's chest. Johnson grabs on with his left and throws a big right to the back of a ducking Shelley's head. Johnson rings another heavy right of the top of Shelley's helmet. Shelley loses his balance, going to his knee, then getting back up. Johnson throws an uppercut that doesn't quite land. They both throw rights, with Johnson's landing and Shelley's missing. They throw rights again, with both just grazing each other's temple. Shelley rings a right on the side of Johnson's helmet. Johnson tries to jab him with the jerseyed-left. Shelley throws another right to Johnson's helmet. Johnson lands a decent right to Shelley's neck as Shelley lands a right on Johnson's ear, then ducks under a Johnson right. Shelley tries a left that's blocked and then kisses a right off Johnson's jaw. Johnson misses a right and Shelley catches helmet with his left, knocking it off Johnson's head. In tight now, Johnson grazes a left on Shelley's face. Shelley lands a right to Johnson's head, then comes up short on another right. Johnson lands a heavy right to Shelley's helmet, then ducks a Shelley right as they lose balance and fall. Good fight. | ||||

| Feb 02, 2004 | 1pd 04:41 | @ MIN | STL | Reed Low |
| Comments: On the ensuing faceoff after a Wild goal, Johnson and Low lean down low yakking at each other. Low got a good jump on Johnson and they're in real close. Johnson got an arm free and got off some punches that mostly missed. Two strong guys grappling and throwing a few shots here and there. Any time they got some space between them, Johnson would throw a big shot and slip, get up and they would pull back in-close. On the third slip he pulled Low down with him. | ||||

| Feb 13, 2004 | 2pd 09:41 | @ MIN | EDM | Georges Laraque |
| Comments: Johnson and Smith come together, and Laraque cuts in. They grab on and MJ is throwing early, landing a good one that seems to hurt Laraque. Laraque half-goes down from trying to avoid additional connections and has a hard time coming back, but eventually gets himself together and trades a few with Johnson, none of which seem to connect, then they go down. | ||||

| Feb 19, 2004 | 1pd 03:57 | @ MIN | VAN | Wade Brookbank |
| Comments: They square off right after the Wild goal. Johnson and Brookbank come together and each throw haymakers. Johnson has grasp of Brookbank's jersey with his left hand, he tries to jab Brookbank, and Brookbank loses his balance. Moose goes in for the kill, but Brookbank is up and gets Johnson's jersey pulled up over his head. Brookbank throws a few and lands at least one right with the jersey up. Johnson continued throwing, doing a good job at aiming with the jersey pulled up before they fall to the ice. | ||||

| Mar 09, 2004 | 2pd 14:02 | MIN | @ SAN | Scott Thornton |
| Comments: At center ice, away from the puck they come together quickly. The gloves come off and there is no square off. Johnson throws the first punch, which looked to miss and Thornton goes down and gets back up. Johnson looks to really load up. They both toss a couple of wild rights. Can't tell what landed, or the effect, but Thornton wound up on the ice with his knees bent and his head down. | ||||

| Mar 10, 2004 | 1pd 01:11 | MIN | @ VAN | Wade Brookbank |
| Comments: Right off the faceoff they drop 'em and get in tight. Brookbank gets the right going and it looks as if he may have landed a couple. While this was goin on, Johnson throws some rights of his own and then they go into hug mode. They end up against the boards and Johnson has Brookbank leaned over the bench a little. He starts to toss some lefts in tight and Brookbank may have eaten a couple of them on the side of the head. Both fighters are in an awkward position by the Vancouver bench and the fight is broken up. Johnson skates away with a small cut on the bridge of his nose. | ||||

| Mar 25, 2004 | 1pd 09:29 | MIN | @ CHI | Ryan VandenBussche |
| Comments: Both are throwing and Vandenbussche is landing a couple of glancing blows, then he starts losing balance. Johnson lands a big uppercut solidly then lands a nice right hand to the jaw. There's a couple of more punches and then some grappling down to the ice. | ||||

| Mar 25, 2004 | 3pd 10:50 | MIN | @ CHI | Jim Vandermeer |
| Comments: Vandermeer throws a gloved punch that connects, then connects with a solid right before Johnson is ready, and it definitely hurts Johnson. Vandermeer throws a few noogie lefts to the top of Johnson's helmet as he is bent over. Johnson finishes by forearming Vandermeer to the ice. You can see a nice pink shade to the left cheek on Johnson as he skates to the bench with his head hung down. Other Penalties: Johnson and Vandermeer each received a slashing. | ||||
