Oilers Sign Cody Wild and Tim Sestito

The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Cody Wild to a three-year NHL entry level contract.

The 6'1", 205 pound defenceman from North Providence, Rhode Island recently completed his third season with the Providence College Friars of the Hockey East Association, scoring 4-18-22 in 32 games with 28 penalty minutes. He was +6 on the season and scored two powerplay goals and one shorthanded goal.

Named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team in 2005-06, Wild scored 16-41-57 with 80 penalty minutes in 100 career games with Providence from 2005-06 to 2007-08.

Wild made his professional debut with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League on Wednesday in a 4-3 win over the Manchester Monarchs.

The 20-year-old was the Oilers' fourth choice (fifth round), 140th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The Oilers also announced that they have signed forward Tim Sestito to a two-year contract extension.
