SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota Wild defenseman Keith Carney became the 29th American-born player to skate in 1,000 National Hockey League (NHL) games today when he suited up against the Calgary Flames at Xcel Energy Center. NHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Jim Gregory presented Carney with a Tiffany Crystal, the Minnesota Wild presented him with a silver stick and Carney's teammates presented him with a watch in honor of his achievement.

Carney, 38 (2/3/70), became the 226th player all-time to reach the 1,000-game plateau, and just the 14th active defenseman. The Providence, R.I., native has career totals of 223 points (44-179=223) and 880 penalty minutes, and his +166 ranking is fourth highest among active blueliners.
