The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned forward Darren Haydar to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, according to Executive Vice President, General Manager and Head Coach Don Waddell. The Thrashers active roster now stands at 21, including 12 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.
Haydar, who was recalled by the Thrashers on Oct. 11 after starting the season with Chicago, has tallied eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 16 games with Atlanta and scored his first-career NHL goal on Oct. 13 vs. the New Jersey Devils.
The 5-9, 175-pound right wing was named the Wolves’ team captain at the start of the season and was held scoreless in one game with Chicago prior to his recall. Haydar led the AHL and set a career high with 122 points (41 goals, 81 assists) in 73 games with Chicago last season. He was named the 2006-07 Les Cunningham Award winner as the AHL’s MVP.
The Milton, Ontario native has registered eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 22 career NHL games with Atlanta and Nashville.
Haydar, 28, was signed by the Thrashers as a free agent on July 4, 2006. He was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators in the ninth round, 248th overall, of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
