Islanders Recall Tim Jackman, Reassign Jeff Tambellini

Thursday, Dec. 13th, 2007

The Islanders have recalled forward Tim Jackman from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League for tonight’s game versus the Phoenix Coyotes at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Left wing Jeff Tambellini has been reassigned to Bridgeport while left wing Ruslan Fedotenko returns to the lineup after missing the last two games with a shoulder injury.

“Tim is someone who can give us quality shifts and an honest effort,” said Nolan at the team’s morning skate today at the Nassau Coliseum. “Jeff didn’t do anything wrong, but he needs to be on a top line be effective. And with Ruslan coming back, we felt it would be best for Jeff to get those consistent minutes in Bridgeport for his development.”

This is Jackman’s second tour of duty with the Islanders this season after skating in eight games with the team in November. During that time, the 26-year old native of North Dakota picked up an assist and 19 penalty minutes. In 16 games with Bridgeport, Jackman is the team’s fourth leading scorer with four goals and eight assists for 12 points and 34 penalty minutes. According to Islanders head coach Ted Nolan, Jackman will skate on a line with Richard Park and Chris Simon tonight.

Fedotenko played in the Islanders’ first 27 games of the season before being injured on December 7 in Florida. This season, the first-year Islander has scored six goals and eight assists for 14 points. Fedotenko, who is in his seventh NHL season, was signed by the Islanders as a free agent in July.

Tambellini has played in eight games with the Islanders this season and is scoreless. In 20 games with Bridgeport, he is the team’s leading scorer with seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points.
