Canadiens Recall Lapierre and O'Byrne; Assign Graboski to Hamilton

Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that forward Maxim Lapierre and defenceman Ryan O'Byrne have been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. The Club also assigned forward Mikhail Grabovski to Hamilton.

Lapierre, 22, is second on the Bulldogs in scoring with 14 points (7-7-14), 63 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in 19 games so far this season. In 129-career AHL games, all with Hamilton, the native of Saint-Leonard, Quebec, has posted 31 goals, 43 assists, 64 points and 336 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-2, 197-pound forward has appeared in 47-career NHL games with the Canadiens, notching six goals, six assists, 12 points and 24 penalty minutes. Lapierre was drafted by Montreal in the 2nd round, 61st overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

O'Byrne, 23, has registered eight points (2-6-8), 43 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating in 18 games with Hamilton this season. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound blueliner has played 98-career AHL games with the Bulldogs, collecting two goals, 18 assists, 20 points and 172 penalty minutes.

The native of Victoria, British Columbia, was selected in the 3rd round, 79th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry draft. This is the first NHL recall of O'Byrne's career.

Grabovski, 23, has picked up a goal and an assist with four penalty minutes in 12 games with Montreal this season. The native of Potsdam, Germany, recorded his first-career NHL point, an assist, on October 20th against the Buffalo Sabres, and scored his first-career NHL goal on October 22nd versus the Boston Bruins.

In 66 games with the Bulldogs during the 2006-2007 AHL campaign, Grabovski tallied 54 points (17-37-54) and 34 penalty minutes as a rookie. The 5-foot-11, 183-pound forward was selected by Montreal in the 5th round, 150th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
