IHL Monthly Honors for October

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Thursday that Bloomington forward Jason Ralph has been named the National City IHL Forward of the Month, Fort Wayne defenseman Guy Dupuis has been named the Pepsi IHL Defenseman of the Month, Port Huron right wing Jamie Carroll has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Month, and Fort Wayne goaltender Kevin Reiter has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Month for October.
Ralph wrapped up the month of October tied for second in points with a total of six. He has scored two goals, four assists and has a plus-2 rating in the four games played during the month. The Carp, Ontario native scored his first point of the new season is Bloomington's first game on October 20th. The next night, Ralph capped off the evening with two goals, both in the third period, to wipe away the 2-2 score and push the PrairieThunder ahead to a 4-2 victory over the Komets. Ralph is currently riding a four game point streak.
Other players nominated for the National City IHL Forward of the Month include: Flint forward Jordan Fox, Fort Wayne center Mathieu Curadeau, Kalamazoo center Mike Manley, Muskegon left wing Mike Watt and Port Huron right wing Jamie Carroll.
Dupuis completed this month with a league-leading five points and four assists. He also is tied for the league lead in shots with 14 and power play assists with two. Dupuis scored his first goal of the season on Saturday, October 27th against Bloomington. His tally was the first of the night for the Komets and led the Fort Wayne to a 3-1 victory. The Moncton, New Brunswick native is playing in his 8th full season in the International Hockey League with all eight seasons being on the Fort Wayne Komets blue line.
Other defenseman nominated for the Pepsi IHL Defenseman of the Month include: Bloomington's Cory Laylin, Flint's Ryan Jorde, Kalamazoo's John Miller, Muskegon's Philippe Plant and Port Huron's Mark DeSantis.
Carroll wrapped up his first month of IHL action with four points (3g, 1a) and a plus-5 rating in the four games the Icehawks played last month. He scored his first point of his professional career on Saturday, October 27th in Muskegon with an unassisted goal 23 seconds before the end of the first period. The 24-year old Andover, Conneticuit native also scored a goal in the shootout Saturday, October 28th versus Flint. Carroll currently leads all rookies in points (4), goals (3), and the plus/minus category (+5). He aslo leads the entire league in shots with 27.
Other players nominated for the Aquafina Rookie of the Month include: Bloomington right wing Kyle McCullough, Flint forward Josef Fojtik, Fort Wayne Mathieu Curadeau, Kalamazoo defenseman Jamie Vanderveeken and Muskegon center Adam Segerie.
Reiter opened the season with a shutout of the Port Huron Icehawks on October 20th, making 30 saves to earn the victory. His next win came on October 27th when he stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced that night in Fort Wayne, allowing only one goal on home ice so far this season. Reiter has played just over 179 minutes and has only allowed four goals in the month of October. The 25-year-old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native wrapped up the month with a record of 2-1-0-0. He currently leads the league in goals against average (1.34) and in save percentage (.947). Reiter is playing his 4th season of professional hockey and first in the International Hockey League.
Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Month include: Bloomington's Derek Dolson, Flint's Chad Alban, Kalamazoo's Jeremy Symington, Muskegon's Issac Reichmuth and Port Huron's Ron Vogel.
