Coyotes Sign Alex Auld to One-Year Deal

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed goaltender Alex Auld to a one-year contract.
In five NHL seasons, Auld has collected a record of 46-44-13, a 2.89 goals against average (GAA), and a .902 save percentage (SV%) in 108 career games with Vancouver and Florida. His best season to date came in 2005-06 when he posted a 33-26-6 record, 2.94 GAA, and .902 SV% in 67 games with Vancouver. For his performance, Auld was named the Canucks’ Most Valuable Player.
Auld, 26, registered a 7-13-5 record, 3.34 GAA, and .888 SV% in 27 appearances with Florida last season. The native of Thunder Bay, Ontario was acquired by Florida along with Todd Bertuzzi and Bryan Allen from Vancouver for Roberto Luongo, Lukas Krajicek and a 6th round draft choice in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft on June 23, 2006.
Auld represented Team Canada in the 2006 World Hockey Championships in Latvia and he won a bronze medal with Canada at the 2001 World Junior Championships.
Auld was selected by Florida in the 2nd round (40th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
