Capitals Re-Sign Center Brooks Laich

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have re-signed center Brooks Laich, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Laich, 24, played in 73 games for the Capitals last season and totaled 18 points with eight goals and 10 assists. He was tied for fifth on the team in goals and tied for second on the team and 10th in the NHL with three shorthanded tallies. Laich was +4 during the final 13 games last season and the team was 8-6-4 when he recorded a point.

The 6’2”, 208-pound native of Wawota, Saskatchewan, was Ottawa’s sixth-round choice, 193rd overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft. He skated one game for Ottawa before being traded to Washington on Feb. 18, 2004. He has 15 goals and 40 points in 150 career games for the Capitals.
