Penguins Sign Tim Brent

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed center Tim Brent to a one-year contract, it was announced Friday by Assistant General Manager Chuck Fletcher.
Brent, 23, scored 30 points (16 goals, 14 assists) in 48 games with the Portland Pirates (AHL) in 2006-07. He registered one point and six penalty minutes in 15 games with the 2006-07 Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks.
The 6-0, 197-pound native of Cambridge, Ontario, has played a total of 131 games in the American Hockey League, scoring 72 points (36 goals, 36 assists). He posted nine points (four goals, five assists) in 27 playoff appearances in the AHL.
Brent spent four seasons with the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors (OHL), tallying 220 points (78 goals, 142 assists) in 238 games. He appeared in 69 playoff games with the Majors, scoring 70 points (20 goals, 50 assists) in postseason play.
