Capitals Sign Center Jason Morgan

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have signed free agent center Jason Morgan to a contract, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Morgan, 30, spent last season in the Minnesota Wild organization, playing four NHL games and 57 games in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Houston Aeros. A 6'1", 194-pound native of St. John's, Newfoundland, Morgan has played 44 career NHL games with Los Angeles, Calgary, Nashville, Chicago and Minnesota, totaling two goals and five assists (seven points).
A fifth-round pick of Los Angeles in the 1995 NHL Draft, Morgan has played 506 career AHL games, recording 93 goals and 188 assists (281 points). He posted a career-high 53 points (13 goals, 40 assists) in 80 games with the Saint John Flames in 2002-03.
