Dallas Stars Sign Richard Clune to Three-Year Contract

2005 Third Round Selection’s Contract Will Begin Next Season
FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has signed left wing Richard Clune to a three-year contract beginning next season and going through the 2009-10 season.
“We are happy to have Richard part of our organization over the next three seasons,” said Armstrong. “He has progressed through the junior ranks and improved his game each season. We look forward to watching him play in the OHL playoffs with Barrie.”
Clune, 19, has appeared in 67 games with the Central Division winning Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League, recording 32 goals and 46 assists for 78 points with a +18 rating, 151 penalty minutes and 16 power play goals. He finished the regular season ranking second on Barrie in penalty minutes and power play goals, and was third in goals, assists and points. Barrie, who had the fourth most points in the OHL, will begin the playoffs against Brampton on Saturday, March 24.
The 5-11, 195 pound left wing appeared in three seasons with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL prior to this season. From 2003 – 2006 with Sarnia, Clune posted 44 goals and 58 assists for 102 points with 301 penalty minutes and nine power play goals. The Toronto, Ontario, native was Dallas’ third round selection (71st overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He won a gold medal with Canada at the 2004 World Under-18 Championships.
