Coyotes Ship Yanic Perreault to Toronto

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Michael Barnett announced today that the Coyotes have acquired defenseman Brendan Bell and a 2nd round draft choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for center Yanic Perreault and a 5th round draft choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Bell, 23, registered 1-4-5 and 19 penalty minutes (PIM) in 31 games played with Toronto this season. In 2005-06, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Ottawa, Ontario played 1 game for Toronto and 70 games with the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies, recording 6-37-43 and 99 PIM.
In 2 seasons with the Maple Leafs, Bell has registered 1-4-5 and 19 PIM in 32 career games. Bell was selected by Toronto in the 3rd round (65th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Perreault recorded 19-14-33 and 20 PIM in 49 games with the Coyotes this season. In 14 seasons with Toronto, Los Angeles, Montreal, Nashville and Phoenix, Perreault has registered 236-261-497 and 364 PIM in 789 career games. The Coyotes signed Perreault as a free agent on October 30, 2006.
