Blackhawks Recall MacDonald and Parenteau; Place Holmqvist and Hamilton on IR

General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have recalled forwards Craig MacDonald and Pierre Parenteau from Norfolk Admirals in the AHL.

This will be MacDonald’s fourth recall by the Blackhawks this season. He has played in 17 games for the Blackhawks this year and has scored two goals and three points with 12 penalty minutes.

For the Norfolk Admirals this season, MacDonald has appeared in 34 games scoring 12 goals while adding 19 assists for 31 points with 24 penalty minutes and a +11 rating. He has scored five power play goals and three shorthanded goals.

Pierre Parenteau was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks along with defenseman Bruno St. Jacques in exchange for Matt Keith, Sebastien Caron, and Chris Durno on December 28th.

He began the season at Portland in the AHL appearing in 28 games and scoring 15 goals and adding 13 assists for 28 points with 35 penalty minutes. Upon being acquired by the Blackhawks, Parenteau was assigned to Norfolk and has appeared in 16 games for the Admirals scoring four goals while adding 11 assists for 15 points with two penalty minutes.

Parenteau has never played in an NHL game. He will wear number 58.

The Blackhawks have also placed forward Michael Holmqvist (stiff back) and Jeff Hamilton (sore shoulder) on injured reserve.
