Wednesday, Jan. 24th, 2007
FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has recalled center Steve Ott from his conditioning assignment with the Iowa Stars, Dallas’ primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Ott, 24, was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 16 after fracturing his ankle on Oct. 28 and was activated from injured reserve and assigned on a conditioning assignment to Iowa on Jan. 18. During his assignment in Iowa, he appeared in three games and was scoreless. In 11 games this season with Dallas, he has recorded four assists and 15 penalty minutes.
During the 2005-06 season, Ott set new career highs in goals (5), assists (17) and points (22) with Dallas, and ranked second on the club in penalty minutes (178). The 6-0, 193-pound center was the only Stars player to appear in all 82 regular season games.
Dallas’ first round pick (No. 25 overall) in the 2000 Entry Draft, Ott has appeared in 192 career NHL games and has recorded 45 points (10 goals and 35 assists) with 376 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 10 Stanley Cup Playoff games for the club, notching a goal and an assist with two penalty minutes.
The native of Summerside, P.E.I., became the first player in franchise history (and just the 24th in NHL history) to have his first playoff point come as an overtime game-winning goal when he lit the lamp in extra time of Game Three of the 2004 Western Conference Quarterfinals vs. Colorado.
