Brian Rolston Named Wild Captain for January

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough and Head Coach Jacques Lemaire announced today that forward Brian Rolston will serve as team captain for the month of January. Keith Carney and Wes Walz will serve as alternate captains.
Rolston, 33 (2/21/73), leads the Wild in scoring this season with 36 points (20-16=36) and paces the team with 18 power play points (8-10=18). The 6-foot-2, 211-pound forward notched his 20th goal of the season in Sunday's win over Anaheim to reach the 20-goal plateau for the fifth time in his career. He ranks tied for fifth in the NHL in shots (175) and tied for 11th in goals. The Wild are 10-0-0 when Rolston scores multiple points in a contest this season. The Flint, Michigan-native has collected 547 points (244-303=547) in 857 career NHL games in parts of 12 seasons with New Jersey, Colorado, Boston and Minnesota.
The Wild will continue to rotate their team captaincy on a monthly basis this season based on the player who has shown the greatest leadership qualities.
This marks the third time this season and fourth time in his tenure with the Wild that Rolston has worn the 'C' (February-2006, October-2006 and November-2006).
