Orr Suspended Five Games, Brashear One

Based on the average annual value of his contract, Orr forfeits $13,235.29 in salary. Brashear, suspended for three games earlier in the season, forfeits $12,195.12. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Orr was suspended for a crosschecking blow to the head of Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin at 15:40 of the third period. Brashear was assessed a match penalty for punching Rangers defenseman Aaron Ward at 7:39 of the third period.
"The Rangers player's actions with his stick were reckless and dangerous," said Colin Campbell, NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations. "Although no injury resulted, the action is unacceptable."
Orr will miss the Rangers' games, Jan. 2 at New Jersey, Jan. 4 against Philadelphia, Jan. 6 at Montreal, Jan. 9 against the New York Islanders and Jan. 11 against Ottawa.
Brashear will miss the Capitals' game Jan. 1 against Phoenix.
