Wild Recall Joel Ward; Reassign Matt Foy

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled RW Joel Ward from the American Hockey League's (AHL) Houston Aeros. In turn, RW Matt Foy has been reassigned to the Aeros, the Wild's primary development affiliate.
Ward, 26 (2/21/80), has skated in 23 games with Houston this season, notching seven points (3-4=7), while logging 18 penalty minutes (PIM). A native of Toronto, Ontario, Ward played in 66 games with the Aeros last season and skated to a +8 while earning 22 points (8-14=22) and posting 34 PIM. He also tallied six points (4-2=6) in eight playoff games with Houston.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward played four seasons of major junior hockey with the Owen Sound Platters of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) before making his pro debut, appearing in eight postseason games with the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) in 2001. He then attended the University of Prince Edward Island, were he tallied 135 points (54-81=135) and 124 PIM over the course of his four-year, 96-game career. The Wild signed the training camp tryout to a contract on September 27, 2006. He will wear sweater number 39 with the Wild.
Foy, 23 (5/18/83), has skated in seven games since November 27, when he was recalled for the second time this season. In all, Foy has skated in nine games with the Wild this season. He has not registered a point, while averaging 7:10 of ice time and skating to a -1 plus/minus ratio.
