Brenden Morrow and Antti Miettinen Activated From IR

FRISCO, Tex. – Dallas Stars General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has activated left wing Brenden Morrow and right wing Antti Miettinen from the injured reserve list. Both players are expected to be in the lineup tonight as the Stars host the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. at American Airlines Center.
Morrow, 27, has missed the past eight games with a groin strain, last appearing on Nov. 24 vs. Los Angeles. In 21 games with the Stars this season, Morrow has posted eight goals and eight assists for 16 points with 19 penalty minutes. His eight goals are tied for the second on the team, while he is ranked tied for third in power play goals (4) and second in game-winning goals (3). Dallas is 6-0-0 when Morrow collects a goal, and 10-1-0 when he has a point this season.
Dallas’ captain set new career highs in assists (42) and pointes (65) in 2005-06, and among team leaders, ranked first in plus/minus (+30) and fourth in points, assists and goals (23). He was the only player in the NHL last season to record more than 20 goals and over 125 penalty minutes. In 472 career NHL games, the native of Carlyle, Sask., has posted 128 goals and 157 assists for 285 points with 775 penalty minutes.
Miettinen, 26, was placed on the injured reserve list on Dec. 6 with a lower body injury suffered on Nov. 30 at Washington. He has skated in 25 games for Dallas this season, notching six goals and four assists for 10 points with 14 penalty minutes. The 6-0, 190-pound right wing ranks tied third on the Stars in shots on goal (59), tied for fifth in goals and game-winning goals (1) and tied for sixth in power play goals (2).
The native of Hameenlinna, Finland, appeared in his first full NHL season in 2005-06, recording 11 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 79 games played for Dallas. In 120 career NHL games, Miettinen has posted 18 goals and 26 assists for 42 points with 60 penalty minutes. He also skated in all five of Dallas’ Stanley Cup Playoff games in 2006, earning one assist.
