Ducks Recall Shawn Thornton

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled right wing Shawn Thornton from the Portland Pirates, Anaheim's primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Thornton, 29 (7/23/77), was recalled from Portland (AHL) on Oct. 28 and played in seven games with Anaheim, earning 0-2=2 points with 21 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +5 rating before being reassigned on Nov. 15. This season with Portland, he has appeared in 15 games with the Pirates, earning 4-4=8 points and 55 PIM.
The 6-1, 209-pound forward has appeared in 38 career NHL games, earning 2-3=5 points with 91 PIM. A native of Oshawa, Ontario, Thornton was signed by the Ducks as a free agent on July 12, 2006. He was originally drafted by Toronto in the seventh round (190th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
