Todd Fedoruk Hurt, Shawn Thornton Recalled

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled RW Shawn Thornton from the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). At the same time, the club also announced it has placed LW Todd Fedoruk on the injured reserve list. Fedoruk suffered a facial injury last night at Minnesota and is returning to Anaheim for evaluation.

Thornton, 29 (7/23/77), has appeared in seven games with Portland in 2006-2007, earning 4-3=7 points and 20 penalty minutes (PIM). At the time of his recall, he ranked tied for second on the club in goals and tied for third in points.

The 6-1, 209-pound forward has appeared in 31 NHL games (all with Chicago), earning 2-1=3 points with 70 PIM. A native of Oshawa, Ontario, Thornton was signed by the Ducks as a free agent on July 12, 2006. He was originally drafted by Toronto in the seventh round (190th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
