Hinote, 29, has played in 353 National Hockey League games during his six-year career with Colorado, recording 65 points (27 goals, 38 assists) and 254 penalty minutes. The 6-0, 190-pound forward appeared in all 23 postseason games for the Avalanche in 2000-01 and helped capture the Stanley Cup. The Leesburg, Florida native was originally drafted by Colorado in the seventh round, 167th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
