Predators Re-Sign Mason

Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed free-agent goaltender Chris Mason to a two-year contract.
Mason, 30 (4/20/76), played a career-high 23 games for the Predators in 2005-06, posting a 12-5-1 record along with a 2.54 goals against average and .913 save percentage. After taking over in net for the injured Tomas Vokoun on April 3, the Red Deer, Alberta native posted a 6-1-0 record in the final eight games of the regular season and posted two shutouts. Mason and Vokoun combined to give the Predators the highest team save percentage (.916) in the NHL this past season.
Mason appeared in all five post-season games for the Predators in 2006, posting a 3.45 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage. In 44 career regular-season NHL games with the Predators, Mason has posted a 16-10-2 record with a 2.49 goals-against average.
Mason spent four years in the Predators’ organization before signing with Florida as an unrestricted free agent on August 20, 2002. He was then claimed by Nashville from the Panthers in the NHL Waiver Draft on October 3, 2003.
