Montreal Canadiens Sign Francis Bouillon to Three-Year Contract

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today the signing of defenseman Francis Bouillon to a three-year contract (2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09).

« Francis Bouillon is a key element of our defensive squad. Very well respected by his teammates and admired by our fans, he is a player who showed a great deal of perseverance since his debut in the NHL. We are very happy that he has committed to remain with our organization for years to come » said Bob Gainey.

Francis Bouillon, 30, completed the 2005-06 season, his sixth in the NHL, with 22 points in 67 games (3 goals, 19 assists) and 34 penalty minutes. He established career highs in assists (19) and points (22). He ranked second behind Steve Bégin for the Jacques-Beauchamp Molson Trophy, an honor awarded annually to the member of the Canadiens who played a significant role during the regular season, without obtaining any particular honor. Bouillon won the Jacques-Beauchamp Molson Trophy in 2003-04.

Bouillon was claimed by the Canadiens off waivers from Nashville on October 25, 2002.
