Canadiens Sign Jonathan Ferland to a One-Year Contract

MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens General Manager, Bob Gainey announced today the signing of forward Jonathan Ferland to a one-year contract (2006-07).
Ferland, 23, completed the 2005-06 season with 15 points (7 goals, 8 assists) and 65 penalty minutes in 39 games with the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs. The 6'2'' 209-pound right-winger missed 23 games with a knee injury. He played in seven games with the Canadiens, scoring his first NHL goal in his first NHL game, January 3rd 2006 against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Bell Centre.
Ferland, a native of Ste-Marie de Beauce, was the Canadiens' 5th pick, 212th overall in 2002.
