St. Louis Blues Sign Schwarz, Polak, Birner and Soderberg

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Sr. V.P. & General Manager Larry Pleau announced today the team has signed goaltender Marek Schwarz, defenseman Roman Polak and forwards Michal Birner and Carl Soderberg.
Schwarz, 20, played in 15 games this season with Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic. The 6-0, 180-pound goaltender was originally drafted by the Blues as their first round selection, 17th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Polak, 20, played in 37 games this season with Vitkovice in the Czech Republic. The 6-1, 198-pound defenseman was originally drafted by the Blues as their sixth round selection, 180th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Birner, 20, played in 60 games this season with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey league. The 6-0, 183-pound forward was originally drafted by the Blues as their fourth round selection, 116th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Soderberg, 20, played in 39 games this season with Malmo in Sweden. The 6-3, 198-pound forward was originally drafted by the Blues as their second round selection, 49th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
