Devils Acquire Center Jason Wiemer from Flames

East Rutherford, NJ – The New Jersey Devils today acquired center Jason Wiemer from the Calgary Flames in exchange for the lower of New Jersey’s two fourth-round selections in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. The announcement was made by Devils’ CEO/ President/General Manager Lou Lamoriello.
“Jason Weimer is a veteran forward, with good size, who will add a physical presence to our lineup,” said Lamoriello.
The 6-1, 225 lb. forward was born April 4, 1976 in Kimberley, B.C. Wiemer had one goal and two assists for three points and 65 penalty minutes in 33 games with the Flames this season. His career totals show 89 goals and 112 assists for 201 points and 1,382 penalty minutes in 710 career games with Tampa Bay, Calgary, Florida, the NY Islanders, and Minnesota over 11 NHL seasons. Wiemer re-joined the Flames August 5, 2004 after splitting the 2003-04 season between the Islanders and Wild. He was Tampa Bay’s first choice and eighth overall selection in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
