Capitals Claim Rico Fata Off Waivers from Atlanta

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Capitals have claimed forward Rico Fata off of waivers from the Atlanta Thrashers, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Fata, 25, was a first-round draft pick (sixth overall) in 1998 by the Calgary Flames. In seven NHL seasons, he has played with four teams: Atlanta, Pittsburgh, New York Rangers and Calgary. Fata has played in 199 career games, recording 23 goals and 32 assists for 55 points with 94 penalty minutes. He has one assist and 14 penalty minutes in 26 games with Atlanta and Pittsburgh this season.
