Predators Acquire Mike Sillinger

Nashville, Tenn. - Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced tonight that the club has acquired center Mike Sillinger (sih-LIHN-juhr) from the St. Louis Blues for forward Timofei Shishkanov (tee-moh-FAY shish-KAHN-ahv).
Sillinger, 34 (6/29/71), is one of only 35 players in the NHL this season with 20-or-more goals (22). He leads the Blues in goals, including a team-high 11 power-play markers, and ranks second on the club with 41 points (22g-19a-41pts) in 48 games. The Regina, Sask. native also leads St. Louis and ranks among NHL leaders with a face-off winning percentage of 55.3% (441-356).
"Mike Sillinger is a battle-tested veteran who will help us both offensively and defensively," said Poile. "He is an all-purpose forward who can play in any situation and can play center or on the wing. He also gives us a top right-handed face-off man to complement Yanic Perreault."
Nashville will be the 11th NHL team for Sillinger, who has posted 439 points (188g-251a) in 877 career games over 15 NHL seasons with Detroit, Anaheim, Vancouver, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Florida, Ottawa, Columbus, Phoenix and St. Louis. He posted career-highs in goals (23), assists (29) and points (52) with Tampa Bay and Florida in 1999-00.
He was originally a first-round choice (11th overall) of the Detroit Red Wings in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.
