Canadiens Claim Downey Off Waivers from Blues

MONTREAL – Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Monday the acquisition of forward Aaron Downey, claimed on waivers from the St. Louis Blues.
Downey, 31, played in 17 games with the Blues in 2005-06, recording two goals and 45 penalty minutes.
Downey, a 6-foot-1, 212-pound right-winger from Shelburne, Ontario, has played in 137 NHL games with the Boston Bruins (1999-2000), Chicago Blackhawks (2000-2002), Dallas Stars (2002-2004) and the Blues, collecting five goals and two assists as well as 273 penalty minutes.
