Ramzi Abid and Karl Stewart Recalled Again

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled forwards Ramzi Abid and Karl Stewart from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell. The team’s active roster now stands at 22, with an additional four players on Injured Reserve.

Abid, 25, was reassigned to the Wolves on Jan. 8 after appearing in two games for the Thrashers, recording one assist, after being recalled on Jan. 6. The 6-2, 215-pound left wing leads Chicago with 17 goals, 20 assists and 37 points in 33 games. The native of Montreal, Quebec, who signed with the Thrashers as a free agent on Aug. 8, 2005, has earned 23 points (13 goals, 11 assists) in 51 NHL games with the Thrashers, Phoenix and Pittsburgh.

Stewart, 22, was reassigned to Chicago on Jan. 8 after playing in three games with the Thrashers after being recalled on Jan. 2. The 5-10, 180-pound left wing is scoreless in five games over two stints with Atlanta this season and has one assist in seven career games with the Thrashers. Stewart, who signed as a free agent with Atlanta on Sept. 28, 2001, has 16 points (10 goals, six assists) with the Wolves in 29 games this season and is tied for second on the team in goals.
