Thursday, Dec. 29th, 2005

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has assigned defenseman Jason Marshall to the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), for conditioning purposes.

Marshall, 34 (2/22/71), has appeared in 520 career NHL games, earning 16-50=66 points with 984 penalty minutes. He has played 364 games as a Mighty Duck, ranking second among defensemen in all-time games played for the franchise. He has played 17 games with Anaheim this season, earning 0-3=3 points with 14 penalty minutes, but has been a healthy scratch in each of the last 14 games (Nov. 25-Dec. 28).

The 6-2, 200-pound blueliner has appeared in each of the last two Western Conference Finals series, facing Anaheim as a member of the Minnesota Wild in the 2003 playoffs and facing Calgary as a member of the San Jose Sharks in 2004.

A native of Cranbrook, B.C., Marshall was drafted by St. Louis in the first round (ninth overall) of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. He was originally acquired by the Mighty Ducks from St. Louis on Aug. 29, 1994, in exchange for defenseman Bill Houlder.
