Wild Claim Randy Robitaille Off Waivers

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) team claimed C Randy Robitaille off waivers from the Nashville Predators.

Robitaille, 29 (10/12/75), recorded four points (1-3=4) in four preseason games with Nashville this year. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound forward tallied 37 points (11-26=37) in 69 contests with the Atlanta Thrashers during the 2003-04 season. The Ottawa, Ontario-native appeared in 51 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Islanders in 2002-03. He recorded 17 points (5-12=17) in 41 games with the Penguins before being traded to the Islanders on March 9, 2003. Robitaille collected three points (1-2=3) in 10 games with New York.

He has scored 147 points (51-96=147) in 318 career NHL contests during eight seasons with Boston, Nashville, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, New York Islanders and Atlanta. Robitaille was originally signed as a free agent by Boston on March 7, 1997. He will wear sweater number 25 with Minnesota.
