Panthers Sign Kolnik, Novak and Tuma

SUNRISE, FL – Florida Panthers General Manager Mike Keenan announced today that RW Juraj Kolnik and D Filip Novak have signed one year contracts. In addition, Keenan announced that D Martin Tuma has signed a three-year entry level contract.

Kolnik, 24, skated in 74 games with the San Antonio Rampage last season scoring 13 goals with 16 assists. He posted National Hockey League career bests in goals (14), assists (11), points (25) and games played (53) during the 2003-04 campaign. For his career with the Cats, he has played in 63 games recording 26 points (14-12-26). The Nitra, Slovakia native was drafted by the New York Islanders with their seventh choice (101st overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Panthers in exchange for Sven Butenschon on Oct. 12, 2002.

Novak, 22, appeared in 71 games with the San Antonio (AHL) last season recording 13 points (1-12-13). The Czech Republic native was drafted by the New York Rangers with their first choice (64th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Cats along with Igor Ulanov, in exchange for Pavel Bure on March 18, 2002.

Tuma, 19, appeared in 61 games with the Ontario Hockey League’s Sault-Ste. Marie Greyhounds last year scoring 10 goals with 13 assists and 107 penalty minutes. For his junior career he played in 118 contests with Sault-Ste. Marie recording 28 points (10-18-28). The Czech Republic native also skated in five games with San Antonio (AHL) last season, notching his first AHL point, an assist, on Apr. 14 vs. Chicago.
