Calgary Flames Forwards Chuck Kobasew and Matthew Lombardi Accept Qualifying Offers

Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames General Manager & Head Coach Darryl Sutter announced today forwards Chuck Kobasew and Matthew Lombardi have accepted their qualifying offers.

Chuck Kobasew played in 79 games with the Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL) this past season posting 75 points in 79 games. The British Columbia native led the Lock Monsters in goals (38), game-winning goals (12), shots (250) was tied for first in +/- (+37), tied for second in assists (37) and second in power play goals (9). During the 2003-04 NHL campaign the 23 year-old recorded 17 points on six goals and 11 assists in 70 games with Calgary. The 6’1” 190 lbs. right winger has played in 93 NHL career games recording 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) and 59 penalty minutes.

Kobasew appeared in all 26 post season games with the Flames during the ’04 playoffs posting one assist. Calgary drafted Kobasew in the first round, 14th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Matthew Lombardi played in nine games with Lowell last season scoring three goals and one assist. During Lombardi’s NHL rookie season, the 2003-04 campaign, the Montreal native recorded 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists) and 32 penalty minutes. Lombardi played in 13 playoff games with the Flames in 2004 scoring one goal and adding five assists. The Flames drafted the 23 year-old Lombardi in the third round, 30th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft.
