Blues Re-Sign Mayers, Sejna and Scheffelmaier; Brewer Accepts Qualifying Offer

Monday, Aug. 15th, 2005

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President & General Manager Larry Pleau today announced that the club has re-signed forward Jamal Mayers, and that defenseman Eric Brewer has accepted his qualifying offer. The Blues also announced that the team has re-signed forward Peter Sejna and defenseman Brett Scheffelmaier.

“Jamal’s combination of speed and size, along with his past experience as a member of the Blues, makes him an excellent fit for our system,” said Pleau. “He also adds important versatility through his role on the penalty killing unit, and his ability to play two positions at both right wing and center.”

Mayers, 30, played in a career-high 80 games for the Blues during the 2003-04 season, recording 11 points (six goals, five assists) along with 91 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 212-pound forward has played in a total of seven NHL seasons, all with St. Louis, collecting 83 points (36 goals, 47 assists) and 447 penalty minutes in 368 games over the course of his career. He was originally St. Louis’ third-round selection, 89th overall, in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
