Preds Sign Hartnell, Yablonski

Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed forwards Scott Hartnell (HAHRT-nuhl) and Jeremy Yablonski (ya-BLAWN-skee).

Hartnell, 23 (4/18/82), established an NHL career high with 18 goals in 2003-04, tying him for second on the Predators, and finished the season with 33 points (18g-15a) in 59 games. The 6-2, 210-pound left winger has appeared in 291 games in four seasons with Nashville (2000-2004) and ranks third all-time among the franchise’s penalty minute leaders (347).

In 2004-05, Hartnell posted 29 points (17g-12a) and 103 penalty minutes in 27 regular-season games with Valerengen IF Oslo (Norway). He then led the league in playoff scoring with 19 points (12g-7a) in 11 games as Valerengen captured the league championship. Hartnell, who grew up in Lloydminster, Alta., was Nashville’s first-round choice (sixth overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Yablonski, 25 (3/21/80), posted 116 penalty minutes and five points (3g-2a) in 32 games with Milwaukee last season before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. The 6-0, 240-pound left winger was a member of the 2004 Calder Cup Champion Admirals and was originally claimed on waivers by Nashville from St. Louis on January 30, 2004. The Meadow Lake, Sask. native made his NHL debut with the Blues on December 30, 2003 vs. Philadelphia.

The following Nashville Predators remain unsigned: Martin Erat, Simon Gamache, Adam Hall, Dan Hamhuis, Darren Haydar, Darcy Hordichuk, David Legwand, Steve Sullivan and Greg Zanon. Qualifying offers expire automatically on Monday, August 15.
